Rendez-Vous #22: Beaujolais Nouveau 2015 is coming!
November 19, le Beaujolais Nouveau arrive !
The “Beaujolais Nouveau” is known worldwide. This young wine, tasted only two months after the grape harvest, has built its reputation in recent years, but its existence is actually much older.
A glimpse into history. A decree published in September 1951 stated that the Designation of Origin wines had to be sold from December 15. But the Beaujolais wine-growers wanted to sell their production earlier! The application was accepted and the young wines could be marketed from November 13, 1951. This is how the Beaujolais Nouveau was born. More here.
What can you savour with a good Beaujolais Nouveau?
It’s a wine with fruity aromas, slightly tannic with a bright red color. It goes wonderfully with various sausage types. It also goes very well with spicy dishes, tartar of fish and seafood. It is recommended to serve it at 14/15 °C. It should be drunk within 3 to 6 months to enjoy the pleasures of the fruit.
Flaunt Your Frenchness is pleased to invite you to its tasting event on November 19 from 5 to 7 pm at the Société francophone de Maillardville in Coquitlam.
The event is free to attend but registration is mandatory. Please click here to RSVP. We hope to see you there!
